Most sports injuries are due to either traumatic injury or overuse of muscles or joints. Our Sports Service is actively involved in many areas of treatment of athletic injuries found in both the everyday athlete and the competitive athlete. Learn more... 

Services

The Sports Service at UMHC provides a full spectrum of services related to sports injuries, including advanced arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee and ankle; total joint arthroplasty of the shoulder, elbow and wrist; arthroscopic repair and reconstruction of rotator cuff tears; and knee surgery for ligament repairs and cartilage transplantation. We also have an extensive network of athletic trainers who provide patients with instruction on injury prevention and rehabilitation.

Clinical Team

Our unique team is headed by Dr. William Geissler, a board certified orthopaedic surgeon who is fellowship trained in advanced arthroscopic surgery, sports medicine, and hand and upper extremity surgery. His practice specialization is in performing reverse shoulder arthroplasty, total shoulder arthroplasty, elbow and wrist arthroplasty, and finger joint replacement. Our team also includeds Dr. Jason Craft, a fellowship trained sports medicine surgeon with significant experience in knee and shoulder arthroscopy, hip arthroscopy, meniscus transplantation, and multi-ligamentous injuries to the knee. Two additional physicians, Dr. Stephen Keiser and Dr. Steve Watts are family medicine physicians with fellowship training in sports medicine. They have special expertise in exercise-induced asthma and the management of concussions. Our team also has a large array of certified athletic trainers available for area high school, collegiate, and professional sports events.
